The Chicago Bulls and there fans were a bit blindsided on Thursday when reports began o surface that the Los Angeles Lakers planned on meeting with their head coach, Tom Thibodeau, to try and bring him out west to fill the vacancy left by Mike D’Antoni.

But while the rumors were rampant, they seem to be calming down, and Bulls beat writer K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune has doubly positive news for the Bulls. Not only does Johnson say that Thibodeau is too busy to talk to the Lakers but he’s too busy being a proponent of bringing Carmelo Anthony to Chicago in 2014-15.

It’s been unclear for a while just how interested the Bulls are in Carmelo Anthony but it appears their interest is not only growing but is rather serious. There will need to be some major adjusting done to the roster in order to fit in Melo and his max contract he’d receive, but it’s possible.

Plus, if it keeps Tom Thibodeau in Chicago and away from the Lakers job, then that’s the definition of a win-win for the Bulls.
