Now that the Los Angeles Lakers and Mike D’Antoni have officially parted ways, the speculation about who their next coach will be until they finally name one will continue to grow.

Like just about everything else in sports, you can bet on who the next head coach of the Lakers will be. Our friends over at Bovada have been kind enough to send over the odds.

Byron Scott

7/2

Kevin Ollie

7/2

Tom Thibodeau                         4/1

John Calipari                             4/1

Derek Fisher                             15/2

Jeff Van Gundy                         8/1

George Karl                              10/1

Kurt Rambis                              10/1

Lionel Hollins                            12/1

Mike Dunleavy                          12/1

It’s no surprise that Scott is one of the co-favorite. He was listed as my favorite for the job the morning after D’Antoni resigned. Scott has had great success in the past, twice leading the New Jersey Nets to the NBA Finals and winning Coach of the Year with the New Orleans Hornets. His list stint, with the Cleveland Cavaliers, went poorly, but he took over as LeBron James was heading south to Miami so that really can’t be held against him.

As for Kevin Ollie, he will certainly be a hot commodity and if the Lakers really want him, they have to make a move. If the Oklahoma City Thunder lose Saturday’s Game 7 to the Memphis Grizzlies, he could be the top candidate to replace Scott Brooks.
