Just a couple days after being called up, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim optioned infielder Luis Jimenez back to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Jimenez only picked up four plate appearances and struck out during two of those in just one game. Disappointing couple days for Jimenez but he’ll have the opportunity to sharpen up in the Minors.

Right Jimenez heading back down to the farm, the Angels recalled right-handed reliever Cory Rasmus. This move will give the Angels another fresh arm in the bullpen. The 26 year old righty made 16 relief appearances with the Angels last season and has a solid 2.76 ERA this season over 16 and one-third innings.

Grant Green, who was also recently called up by the Angels will be getting the start in left field. It’s his second start in the last three games, but it won’t last long when Josh Hamilton comes off the disabled list.

Now according to Alden Gonzalez on Twitter, C.J. Cron will be batting cleanup today against the New York Yankees.

Cron has five hits with two RBI’s so far with the Angels.
