The Colorado Rockies have placed catcher Wilin Rosario on the 15 day disabled list with a viral infection. The infection is serious enough that the Rockies believe he will need two weeks to recover. Michael McKenry and Jordan Pacheco will both see increased playing time while Rosario is out.
The Rockies activated RHP Jhoulys Chacin off the disabled list. Chacin was wild in his start yesterday, allowing five walks, eight hits, and four runs in five innings against the Mets.
Fantasy wise, I would wait on Chacin until he puts a couple of good starts together, even in deep leagues. There are better options out there right now. McKenry and Pacheco won’t offer you much help either except for maybe in two catcher leagues. Pacheco is worth the add first since he is also eligible at first base and third base.

The Giants have placed RHP Matt Cain on the 15 day disabled list with a cut on his right index finger. Yusmiero Petit will probably get another start or two now, and should definitely be picked up in deeper and NL-only leagues.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed Brandon Morrow on the 60 day disabled list with a torn tendon in his right hand. Morrow’s injury is much worse than initially thought. This prompted the Jays to call up their best pitching prospect in Marcus Stroman. Stroman will pitch out of the bullpen at first. He allowed a run in his first major league appearance yesterday. J.A. Happ will get the first shot at replacing Morrow in the rotation.
Stroman is worth adding in keeper and dynasty formats just in case he ends up winning a permanent rotation slot. In the short term, J.A. Happ is probably more of a spot starter against mediocre teams than someone you can rely on every five days.
In other news, the Atlanta Braves have activated RHP Gavin Floyd from the disabled list. Floyd will pick up the start on Tuesday against the Cardinals. Anything after that will depend on how Ervin Santana‘s thumb is doing.
Floyd is probably best left alone, especially against the Cardinals. I think I would avoid him even in NL-only leagues.
The Cleveland Indians have called up Nyjer Morgan. Morgan went 2-5 yesterday batting leadoff while Michael Bourn nurses a sore hamstring. Morgan does have great speed, and is worth picking up if you need steals. He had three steals while filling in for Bourn earlier this year.

The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Heath Bell for assignment. Bell had a 7.27 ERA and an atrocious 1.84 WHIP in 17.1 innings. The Rays will hope someone is willing to offer at least a little bit of a return on Bell. RHP Nate Karns will take Bell’s place in the bullpen.
