Richard Sherman signed a rich new extension with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Never one to shy away from an opinion, Sherman took the opportunity provide some commentary on another situation as well.

Asked by Sean Gregory of Time, Sherman said that he does not think the NFL would have banned an owner such as Donald Sterling if faced with the same situation that the NBA was recently.

"No I don’t. Because we have an NFL team called the Redskins. I don’t think the NFL really is as concerned as they show. The NFL is more of a bottom line league. If it doesn’t effect their bottom line, they’re not as concerned.”"

Sherman gestured back to his infamous interview after the NFC Championship as further evidence that there is still progress to be made with issues of race:

"People want to it to be done, they want that uncomfortable truth to be over with, they want the racism to be done, they want to believe everything is great and hunky-dory. And it’s not. There’s a lot of racism still alive and still active. And it just forced America to rethink it once again. And to really, really understand that racism isn’t gone. We have to actively push it out. And snuff it out."

When he isn’t grandstanding or congratulating himself for being fascinating, Sherman does offer thoughtful insights when it comes to these issues. His Q&A with Gregory is no exception and is worth a read.
