Despite all the hype surrounding former Texas A&M quarterback and 2014 NFL Draft hopeful Johnny Manziel, the fact is that he will take some time to develop no matter which team selects him in the draft.

Manziel is also keenly aware of that fact, and is more than willing to carry a clipboard and be a backup quarterback to start his career if need be.

” I don’t get to choose where I go today but also it’s what’s best for the team and that’s what kind of guy that I am.” – Johnny Manziel

The question isn’t if Manziel will be drafted, the question is has he fallen out of the top 10 or is he still a potential high pick in the first round. There are a lot of teams who have seemingly turned away from Manziel, but during draft time anything can be considered a smokescreen.

In an interview with NJ.com, Manziel talked about his chances of being a starter with a very mature sounding attitude.

“I went to [Texas] A&M, redshirted, and sat behind [Ryan] Tannehill and learned a lot,” Manziel said. “There’s guys that been in the league and know a lot more than I know going in. If I need to sit and learn from them for a year or whatever the case may be, then I’m openly willing to do that if that’s what’s best for the team. That’s all I care about.”

That kind of attitude will go a long way to alleviating the fears that have many teams backing away from Manziel.
