The Arizona Cardinals traded down from the No. 20 overall spot and if they wanted to get Johnny Manziel then they missed out as he went two picks later. But while the Cardinals said they wouldn’t mind a quarterback in the first round, they also had defensive needs that demanded attention, which meant they could have gone anywhere with the pick.

Ultimately, Arizona held onto their pick the second time around and ended up drafting Deone Bucannon from Washington State with the No. 27 overall pick.

The pick makes a lot of sense for the Cardinals as it gives them someone who can fill a big hole on the roster that they needed shored up in the long haul. It also gives them some secondary help to counter that of the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks.
