Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon could be out all of the 2014 season, so they looked to replace him in the draft with Marqise Lee. They’re also focused on keeping the receivers in their offense around, and that includes wide receiver Cecil Shorts who is entering the final season of his rookie contract, which was for four-years and $2.6 million.

“We’ve had some general discussions with his representation,” Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said, via the Florida Times Union. “Obviously, we want him here for the long haul. He’s a valuable part of our organization and we’d love to at some point in time take care of Cecil.”

Shorts was the team’s leading receiver in 2013 hauling in 66 passes for 777 yards but only three touchdowns. It was a career year for Shorts as well, who has 123 catches for 1,786 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.
