Right after the NFL Draft concluded this past weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles went out and signed former Nebraska four-year starting quarterback Taylor Martinez to a three-year unfradted free agent contract, leaving people salivating at the thought of what head coach Chip Kelly could do with the dual-threat sensation.

Well, we’re not going to get to find that out as according to a report from Husker Online, Martinez has failed his physical due to the injured foot that has hampered him the past few seasons, thus voiding his contract.

"According to Martinez’s father Casey, the Eagles flew his son to Philadelphia and evaluated his medical file from Nebraska and performed x-rays of their own on his injured foot and he did not pass the physical."

Because of this, all is not completely lost for Martinez as he’ll just have to do what it takes to get the injury in order before he can get a proper tryout with a team.

In a statement via text message to Husker Online, Martinez’s father, Casey, just said that this is another hurdle for his son to get over.

“It’s just another obstacle for Taylor that he will overcome as he has since high school,” Casey Martinez said in a text message.

Martinez was not being looked at by the Eagles as a QB, rather they were looking for a position switch to either defensive back or wide receiver, which is what more than likely any team would consider.
