With the team down 3-1 to the Miami Heat, it seems that the Brooklyn Nets’ grand vision of winning a championship on the backs of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett isn’t going to come to fruition. But while their current season is almost over, Brooklyn’s run with Garnett and Pierce doesn’t seem to be just yet.

According to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post, both Garnett and Pierce will likely be back with the Nets next season as this experiment isn’t a one year deal.

Both Pierce and Garnett have stated that their goal is to win a championship, and while that’s something you hear every player in every sport say, in this specific situation it seems to indicate that there is unfinished business that lingers for both Garnett and Pierce.

It’s still possible that Brooklyn loses Garnett to retirement and Pierce to the Los Angeles Clippers and former head coach Doc Rivers in free agency, but at the moment the duo seem focused on winning in Brooklyn and that’s likely to lure them back next season.
