The Ultimate Fighting Championship has come a long way since “UFC 1: The Beginning,” which was held at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado, back in the day when the sport was still viewed as many as full contact, no-holds barred violence.

However, there were a few rules before the competitors could step into the Octagon.

UFC co-founder Campbell McLaren shared the original rules list for UFC 1 on his Twitter account Tuesday morning.

The rules were few and far between, but it is great to take a look back at the history of the sport to see where mixed martial arts started.

Now, the sport is one of the fastest growing in the world and it has shed the negative labels that it was carrying when MMA was first making its breakthrough.
