NBA Coaching Rumors: Lakers, Knicks may get into bidding war over Derek Fisher

The New York Knicks are desperately trying to save face after going large after Steve Kerr and belly-flopping in the worst of waves. The elegant hiring of Kerr never happened and instead we are left with egg all over the place in New York. This may cause a bidding war to erupt between Phil Jackson’s current team and the team his wife is running in Los Angeles.

According to the New York Post, a bidding war ignite for the services of Derek Fisher as head coach of either the Knicks or the Lakers.

Per the New York Post:

"Phil Jackson also has ex-Lakers point guard Derek Fisher on his radar — considered the next-best thing to Kerr because of his history of running the triangle in Jackson’s offense. A source said he believes a bidding war could open for Fisher, though, between the Lakers and Knicks."

The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers getting into a long distance nuclear war over Derek Fisher shows just how hilariously awful both franchises are. This isn’t some elite head coach we’re talking about, it’s a guy who may end up spurning both to play basketball another year.

It’s possible that Fisher may have success as a head coach, but to get into a bidding war over him is laughable at best and shows the sad state of the franchises in New York and Los Angeles.
