The future coaching career of Kevin Ollie looks to be keeping him at UConn as a report has surfaced that he turned down a contract offer from an NBA team to remain where he currently is. It has been mentioned that the Cleveland Cavaliers may have been this team, but evidence tot he contrary has surfaced that seems to clear the Cavs.

According to Mary Schmitt Boyer of The Plain Dealer, the Cavaliers never reached out to the UConn head coach with a formal offer and therefore can’t be the team he rejected earlier this week.

This leads us to wonder which other team was as the Jazz and Timberwolves were mentioned as possibly having been spurned by Ollie. For Minnesota, we only recently learned that they interviewed Lionel Hollins three weeks ago so it’s possible that any contact with Ollie was kept under wraps.

Utah has been all over the map in their own search and it’s entirely possible that they reached out to Ollie simply to see what he was thinking about in terms of making the leap to the NBA.

Either way, Ollie looks to be staying at UConn another year and will likely revisit a leap to the NBA when more attractive options are available.
