To the surprise of nearly everyone, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery and will have the number one pick in the 2014 NBA Draft on June 26.

Immediately, three names come to mind – former Kansas Jayhawks’ forward Andrew Wiggins, his collegiate teammate, center Joel Embiid and former Duke Blue Devils’ forward Jabari Parker as potential top overall picks.

Parker has supposedly topped the Cavaliers’ draft board throughout the season, but the Cavaliers are reportedly now leaning toward Wiggins.

However, the Cavaliers won’t necessarily select any of the perceived top three prospects.

I think it’s not necessarily limited to three names that are more highly hyped,” Cavaliers general manager David Griffin said via Jodie Valade of The Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “We’ve got to do a more thorough evaluation of all of the guys to know that we’re not doing something too quickly. When you’re looking at the guys who have all the hype they have that because of their upside and athleticism.

“There’s more to it than just those three guys that people talk about.”

That would leave Australian point Dante Exum and former Kentucky Wildcats’ power forward Julius Randle as the highest rated players on the board. Although both are considered top-five prospects, it would be quite the surprise if the Cavaliers selected either one.

Of course, the Cavaliers surprised everyone last year when they selected Anthony Bennett with the top pick.
