Buster Posey day to day with back issue
By Hayden Kane
The San Francisco Giants are in Colorado for a series starting Tuesday against the upstart Rockies. When they take the field for the opening game on Tuesday night they will be without star catcher Buster Posey as a concession to his ailing back.
Chris Haft of MLB.com reports the following about Posey’s status:
"“Giants catcher Buster Posey went on day-to-day playing status Tuesday with nerve irritation in his lower back. The ailment prevented Posey from starting the opener of a challenging three-game series against the Colorado Rockies…Center fielder Angel Pagan (left shoulder) also was out of the lineup, forcing the Giants to confront the Rockies without two of their top offensive performers.”"
Posey has been dealing with minor back issues for a while now. The Giants are hoping to avoid a stint on the disabled list if they can help it, but the more that the issue lingers the more they might have to consider shutting Posey down for a while to get him healthy for the long run.
