The Boston Celtics were obviously hoping to move during Tuesday night’s 2014 NBA Draft Lottery, but instead moved down a spot as the Cleveland Cavaliers vaulted their way to the top pick.
Whether or not the Celtics were eyeing a certain prospect near the top or eyeing a potential trade for Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love is the question.
Of course, even if the Celtics are making Love the priority, they will still be doing their homework in regards to the draft. Over the last few months, there have been several reports that the Celtics like former Arizona Wildcats’ power forward Aaron Gordon. In fact, the Celtics interviewed Gordond uring last week’s NBA Scouting Combine.
"I don’t know that the 6th pick will get it done. The Celtics will have to offer more and I’m not sure what that is exactly. But yes, I see the Celtics looking for offers at this point. I thought they’d only keep the pick if it was Top 3 or 4. I have them taking Aaron Gordon in the mock. Just seems like a Danny Ainge pick to me. Athleticism, plus motor and toughness."
Gordon averaged 12.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the Wildcats this season.
