Cleveland Cavaliers reaching out to interview Alvin Gentry
By Aaron Blue
The Cleveland Cavaliers continue their search for a new head coach after letting Mike Brown go for a second time. The Cavs now have the enticing first overall pick in the upcoming draft to attract prospective coaches and will be looking for the right person to start a new era in Cleveland after failing to qualify for the playoffs for a 4th consecutive year.

Mary Boyer of Plain Dealers is reporting the team has asked for permission to interview Los Angeles Clippers assistant Alvin Gentry.
Gentry has already been a rumored target for the Utah Jazz and possibly the Memphis Grizzlies after spending the 2013-14 season as the head assistant under Clippers’ head coach Doc Rivers. Gentry has previously been with the Phoenix Suns as their head coach for 4 seasons. Under Gentry, the Suns reached the playoffs only one, but did make a visit in the Western Conference finals in that appearance.
Cleveland will likely expedite the coaching search in the coming weeks to get a coach in place for draft workouts. Whoever takes the job will likely get a chance to coach one of the upcoming stars in this year’s draft along with a rising star in Kyrie Irving.
