If you’ll excuse the cliche, a little patience goes a long way.

That tidbit of wisdom might be especially applicable when it comes to top prospects such as Houston Astros outfielder George Springer. We hear so much about these ballyhooed prospects that we expect results immediately. That lack of patience combined with the ridiculous impact of young players like Mike Trout and Bryce Harper has put a ton of pressure on top prospects to produce immediately upon reaching the big leagues.

That’s not how things work, of course. Some guys need time to grow into the big league game and find their rhythm. After a slow start during his first few weeks of big league action, Springer is looking to prove that fact. Just because he did not start raking right away does not mean that he is a disappointment or any less of a top-shelf talent.

On Saturday night against the Seattle Mariners Springer blasted two home runs to key a rare offensive outburst for the Astros. The young outfielder entered the night with a .240/.326/.384 slash for the season thus far. The good news for the Astros is that it looks like things are trending up based on the swings he took on this night.
