The Dallas Cowboys defensive line is going to look a bit different in the 2014 NFL season. Defensive end DeMarcus Ware has signed with the Denver Broncos and Jason Hatcher has signed with the Washington Redskins.

More from Dallas Cowboys

To replace the departing players they signed Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton, who is coming off an ACL injury that ended his season early. He is still trying to recover from that injury and will be missing some time with the Cowboys pre-camp work outs.

From the Cowboy’s website:

"In 2013, Sean Lee and Lance Dunbar had their seasons cut short with injuries, but expect both to be ready to go Tuesday when the team takes the field at Valley Ranch. Henry Melton will not be as fortunate and will make his first appearance in a Cowboys uniform when the team travels to Oxnard, California, in July."

It is interesting considering he was out on the field just earlier this month.

“He was out on the field today – again, we were out on the field for the first time with our players. He was not 100 percent, but he was doing a lot of good things – moving around, getting involved in some of the drills, making some progress,” Garrett said in early May, via the Cowboys’ website. “We’ll see how he responds to that work, but we’ve been really pleased with his progress.”

The goal all along has been getting Melton ready for training camp though, so it isn’t necessarily a set back.
