The NBA offseason is full of crazy rumors and speculation and that’s half the fun of this time of year. While not everything that is talked about in terms of trades and signings come to fruition, it’s fun to project what seasons could look like if Player A lands with Team X in the offseason.

NBA scribe Chuck Myron fielded questions on Monday from fans wondering how this offseason will shake out for some of the bigger names on the cusp of possibly changing uniforms. One of those players is Rajon Rondo and the Indiana Pacers may have a better chance of landing him than we all think.

"I think it’s always possible the Pacers could get Rondo, but it might take giving up Stephenson in a sign-and-trade along with David West, whom the Celtics wanted to sign after the lockout. That’s just my speculation, of course, but I think that’s what the C’s would demand."

Lance Stephenson is great, but he hasn’t won the Pacers any titles and hasn’t really helped much in the postseason in terms of doing more than he’s capable of. He’s scored when the Pacers need him to, but they need him to have it turned on all the time and he doesn’t seem like he can carry a team. Giving up David West would be the more painful aspect of this trade scenario, but you have to remind yourself that Rajon Rondo is coming over and that’s a huge win.

Rondo leading this Pacers team may be what they need, as it’s clear the team isn’t afraid to make huge moves that call for some re-adjusting of chemistry. But Rondo is a huge fix for the Pacers who don’t so much need a point guard as much as they need a game changer and that’s what Rondo is and could be if this crazy and unlikely hypothetical is somehow realized.
