Although the Major League Baseball season is still early in 2014, the defending world champion Boston Red Sox have not been having the success they had hoped for to start the campaign. They’re currently 22-29 overall and eight games behind the leaders in the AL East, the Toronto Blue Jays.

That frustration was showed greatly on Tuesday in a game against the Atlanta Braves as ‘Big Papi’ David Ortiz decided to become a lumberjack.

Watch in the video below as Ortiz, following a weak ground out to first base, just decides it’s best not to hustle it out down the line, rather he just takes out his frustration on the bat.

This is not something new in baseball, but because it rarely happens, it’s a scary sight to take in every single time. Watching someone as large as Ortiz get that angry that he can break a Major League bat over his knee is frightening.

The best part about all of this is the fact that the Red Sox were winning the game at the time and ended up keeping that 6-3 lead all the way to the end.

But, that should highlight the competitive fire that has made Ortiz one of the best players in our generation over the years.

Speaking of over the years, maybe at his age, he should just settle for taking his anger out on a water cooler or something as opposed to his knee.
