The Houston Texans made South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft earlier in May. Apparently he was eating at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills with some friends last night when some TMZ photogs caught up with him.

While trying rather unsucessfully to talk to him about football Clowney pulled an old school, yet classic, prank on the photog. But first back to the failed attempt to talk sports.

TMZ likes to reel celebrities in with a compliment or something polite at first before they ask them outlandish questions. He tried to congratulate Clowney on his $22 million contract, but one of Clowney’s friends corrected him and said nothing has been signed yet.

Then someone walks up and hands Clowney a flower out of no where, and Clowney says he wishes he had money to pay that person. He then offers it to the photog, who goes to accept but Clowney pulls it back at the last second.

An oldie, but goodie, a classic prank that never goes out of style and is still effective. At least it is nice to see an athlete or celebrity having a little bit of fun instead of just shutting down and going silent when the cameras come around.
