The future between Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks remains a mystery as free agency approaches in July. The relationship between the front office and Melo seems to be stable at this point after the organization moved to hire Phil Jackson as their President of Basketball Operations. The team is still looking for a new head coach after firing Mike Woodson after three seasons.

Few names have been linked to the position after Steve Kerr took the Golden State Warriors opening. Carmelo Anthony is expected to have a role in who the Knicks choose for the position in hopes to retain the all star forward as he enters unrestricted free agency. Carmelo has remained silent through the process to this point, but may be comfortable with Mark Jackson as the next head coach for the Knicks, according to Ian Begley of ESPNNewYork.com.

"One source familiar with Anthony’s thinking on the matter said recently that the star forward would “embrace” the opportunity to play for Mark Jackson."

Mark Jackson spent three season with the Golden State Warriors before the team let him go after their first round loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The firing was considered a bit of surprise after helping the Warriors return to the playoffs after a five year drought between 2007 and 2012. Mark Jackson hasn’t been linked to many positions after returning to the broadcasting side of the NBA shortly after his removal in Oakland. Mark Jackson still may be pursued by a few teams around the league, and the Knicks have remained a favorite destination as the team looks to bounce back from a 37-45 season.
