Former Michigan State Spartans’ forward Adreian Payne has quite the career in East Lansing.

More from Boston Celtics

Payne, a rare senior that spent all four years in his program, helped the Spartans reach the Elite 8 where they were taken down by the eventual National Champions, the Connecticut Huskies. In a 93-78 second round win over the Delaware Blue Hens, he scored 41 points. He then had 12 and 16 points in wins over the Harvard Crimson and Virginia Cavaliers before scoring 13 against the Huskies.

With Payne having mono throughout a majority of last season, it makes what he was able to do even more impressive. Payne also has lungs that are smaller than a person his size should, which could scare off some teams. However, there still hasn’t been a shortage of workouts for payne.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, Payne will be working out for the Boston Celtics on June 4, the Phoenix Suns on June 6 and the Utah Jazz on Junes.

Payne is currently ranked as the 21st-best prospect in the draft by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express. Givony also  currently projects him to be selected by the Toronto Raptors with the 20th-overall pick, which is the same prediction I made in my mock draft (which can be seen here).

Payne averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season.

The Chicago Bulls, who hold both the 16th and 19th-overall picks, are also very interested in Payne.
