Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from May 30

The hitters were out on Friday, taking all but one spot in today’s top fantasy baseball stats recap.
We start with a possible AL MVP candidate, and one extended his on base streak to 45 consecutive games in rather impressive fashion.

Josh Donaldson — Oakland Athletics

If you thought Donaldson’s 2013 season was a fluke, you might want to reconsider that. If you bought low on him on draft day, allow me to congratulate you; he’s quite possibly the AL MVP through the first two months of the year.
On Friday, he was on top of his game, taking full advantage of the opportunities his A’s teammates gave him. When a hot hitter mixes with a hot lineup, games like this are likely to happen.
Daily Honorable Mentions
1. Devin Mesoraco — Cincinnati Reds

Mesoraco is absolutely raking this year, and he completely dominated former teammate Bronson Arroyo and the rest of the Diamondbacks on Friday, scoring and/or driving in all but one of the Reds runs.
Mesoraco has always had legit power, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him get to around 20 by season’s end. Even if the average regresses significantly, he’s another example of why you don’t grab catchers early on draft day. Guys like this can always be found late, or in free agency.
2. Madison Bumgarner — San Francisco Giants

I expected Bumgarner and his opponent, Adam Wainwright, to make the list today. Things didn’t quite work that way, but Bumgarner was Friday’s pitching star, pounding the strike zone after the Giants staked him to plenty of runs.
Bumgarner has had a few rough spots this season, but he’s won his last five decisions. It’s understandable if the wins don’t impress you, but Bumgarner’s also gone seven innings in each of his last two outings, surrendering only three hits in each, and striking out 10 hitters each time. He’s definitely locking in.
3. Ryan Braun — Milwaukee Brewers

It’s been a good week for Braun. If the All-Star voting closed now, he’d be a starter, currently ahead of Giancarlo Stanton, Yasiel Puig, teammate Carlos Gomez, and any NL outfielder not named Charlie Blackmon or Andrew McCutchen.
Friday’s game was another in a great run for Braun who’s on a six-game hitting streak, recording multiple hits in each of his last three. If you let last season’s suspension keep you from drafting Braun, I hope you also benefited from people assuming big regression from Donaldson, because Braun is back to his old tricks.
