The Knicks are still without a coach after their top twice, Steve Kerr, decided to become the head coach of the Golden State Warriors instead. They also don’t have the cap room to make any big additions and are facing the potential free agency of their best player, star forward Carmelo Anthony. To top all of that off, the Knicks don’t have a draft pick because of all of the moves they have made.
The Knicks are, however, going to try to trade into the draft and have been hosting workouts. According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks worked out former North Carolina Tar Heels’ power forward James Michael McAdoo and former Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders’ power forward Shawn Jones.
McAdoo, the second cousin of NBA Hall-of-Famer Bob McAdoo, hit Chapel Hill with a lot of hype and although he had a nice career, he did not live up to the hype. McAdoo measured in at 6’8.75″ and 228 pounds with an excellent wingspan of 7’2.25″ at the NBA’s Scouting Combine. He averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 45.8% from the field and 53.7% from the charity stripe.
Jones, a native of Hialeah, Florida, is 6’8 and 232 pounds. He averaged 14.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 56.7% from the field and 68.1% from the free throw line.
