Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from June 1

The first day of June brought some incredible fantasy baseball stats — especially from the pitchers. Three pitchers through complete games with two throwing shutouts, so I hope the relievers enjoyed the day off. Heck, five more starters finished eight innings, and that’s where we start.

Yu Darvish — Texas Rangers

Denard Span –the first Nats hitter of the game — recorded a hit, so there was no threat of a no hitter or perfect game, but Darvish was his usual dominant self.
This kid is absolutely electric and if I needed a pitching rotation upgrade, might be the first guy I’d target in a trade. I don’t care what offense he’s facing or what park it’s in, Darvish at his best is nearly impossible to hit — as his stats will confirm.
Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats — Honorable Mentions
1. Kyle Lohse — Milwaukee Brewers

If only offensive contributions mattered, Lohse might have been No. 1 today. As it is, he has to settle for the best of the rest spot.
Lohse has been one of the better steals in fantasy baseball this year, producing deep start after deep start. Still, Sunday was his first complete game of the year and while Lohse didn’t quite top Darvish, he did as much for fantasy owners as they could have reasonably expected, and more.
2. Manny Machado — Baltimore Orioles

After a gruesome season-ending injury last year, Machado has been slow to return to form in 2014, but Sunday’s action might have been him turning a corner. That is a welcome sight for his fantasy owners, as well as anyone who loves baseball and watching this kid play.
Fantasy owners couldn’t have asked for anything from Machado and his O’s teammates today, as he was a positive contributor in every standard fantasy category.
3. Chris Sale — Chicago White Sox

A special nod must be given to Roenis Elias, who probably pitched a better game than Sale or Lohse, and possibly Darvish, as well. Unfortunately, he’s not owned by many fantasy players and since he was going against Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers, I doubt he was signed in many daily play leagues.
This was a brilliant outing from Sale, who’s pitched like a Cy Young contender all year, especially since returning from his injury. It was predictable, as the Padres are one of the worst offenses in the league, but Sale didn’t disappoint, making only one mistake to Chase Headley. When you’re not allowing runners, one mistake is generally okay, and it was for Sale on Sunday.
