The Dallas Cowboys have been looking for some help in the defensive backfield for the past few seasons and they are hoping that the unit can take a few steps in the right direction in 2014 as they look to finally make their way to the postseason.

If former first-round pick Morris Claiborne’s comments are any indication, the team believes that they will be able to have that breakthrough and finally live up to their potential.

Specifically, Claiborne believes that he, Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick can be the best cornerback trio in the league.

We believe that we can be the best in the league,” Claiborne said, via the Dallas Morning News. “We got some unique talent on our team, especially in our secondary. With us three in general, from the way we work and the way we go at it, we’re pushing each other each and every day.

“We feel like there’s no starting corner. All of us have the ability to go out and play, and we’re going to go out and compete like that. All of us know it. We help each other, but at the same time, when we’re on the field, we compete against each other.”

Dallas has had far too many underwhelming seasons in a row for the expectations that always seem to follow them, so for everyone involved lets hope that Claiborne and his fellow corners can step up.
