Novak Djokovic got the wrong trophy during French Open presentation
By Dan Zinski
A slight gaffe occurred during the trophy presentation after Sunday’s French Open final. Runner-up Novak Djokovic was handed a round plate in honor of getting beaten for the title by Rafael Nadal, but it turns out he should have been given a square plate instead.

Here are two images, one of Djokovic holding the incorrect round plate, and one of him holding the correct square plate. Just so you can compare and contrast the two trophies. Round. Square. One the right runner-up trophy, one the wrong runner-up trophy.
Shapes can sometimes be complicated, as any pre-schooler knows.
I don’t really get the whole using a plate as a trophy thing, do you? It seems kind of lame to me. Like, “Oh, you lost, here’s a plate. You can put drinks or something on it.” It’s like they’re implying you should quit your sport and seek a career as a server. Novak Djokovic may have lost the French Open but he’s a long way from putting away the racket and becoming a waiter, I think.
