Seattle Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman will grace the cover of Madden 15. If he gets his way, he won’t be the only one depicted on that cover in August. Sherman recently told Seahawks.com that he’s honored to be chosen for the cover, but if EA Sports could include the entire Seattle secondary on the photo, well that would be just peachy.

More from NFL

“I’ve been trying to get the Legion of Boom on the cover, and EA has been fighting me,” Sherman said. “So if everybody wants to start a petition to get the Legion of Boom on the cover, here it is, here’s an open invitation.”

There you have it. Anyone looking to write an angry letter to EA Sports can reference this if they choose. Of course, as Mike Florio of PFT notes, that might be easier said than done. Said Florio, “EA would have to pay the other three starters in the secondary — safety Earl Thomas, safety Kam Chancellor, and cornerback Byron Maxwell — for the ability to use their likenesses on the cover.  And EA would derive little extra benefit from doing so.”

Why, you ask? Because EA would already have a Seahawk on the cover and would thus already plan to see a spike in sales from Seahawks fans. Having four Seahawks on the cover would add little more benefit to the marketing campaign. Instead, as Florio suggests, Sherman’s best route may be to offer up 3/4th of the money he’s due from the cover deal so the other members of Seattle’s secondary can get in on the action.
