Sacramento Kings’ forward Rudy Gay has until June 30 to decide whether or not he will decide to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent or if he will opt in and wait until next year to become a free agent (or sign an extension). Of course, he could also opt out and sign an extension this summer.

The Kings are reportedly going to do whatever they can to keep Gay in Sacramento and it looks like the fans have joined in on the movement.

The Kings have put banners up in the Sacramento airport (picture via Bryan May of KTXV News 10 in Sacramento). Fans are also making banners asking both Gay and point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is set to become a restricted free agent, to re-sign with the Kings. Their campaign is urging fans to use the hashtag #StayInSac.

Gay was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Kings back in December. On the season, he averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 45.5% from the field, 33.0% from beyond the arc and 82.2% from the free throw line last season.
