Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton: My obligation is to be 100% healthy
By Jack Crosby
The Carolina Panthers may have let some valuable offensive weapons go this offseason, but the most important member of the unit, quarterback Cam Newton, is still there running the show. Although, he hasn’t had the easiest time this offseason neither, personally, as he not only had to undergo ankle surgery, but he also has contract talks with the team to worry about.

Some would believe that Newton getting his money takes top priority at the moment, but not Cam himself. No, the former Heisman winner believes his main obligation at the moment is not to worry about the contract discussions, rather it’s getting himself back to 100% health.
Newton has always been great at saying the right things, and he’s done it again here, even though we know that while it might not be top priority, getting a deal done with the Panthers that fits his needs as soon as possible is right up there next to the health.
The best case scenario would be for the two sides to reach an agreement before this season starts, although already in the middle of June, time is quickly running out to get that accomplished.
