On Wednesday night, the 2014 Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings kicks off. For the Eastern Conference champion Rangers, tonight’s game is do-or-die.

More from Los Angeles Kings

The Rangers bring a three-game lead into the series and they can close out the finals and raise Lord Stanley’s Cup with another win against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

When the Rangers were preparing for tonight’s game, they had a level of intensity and knew that they would need to pick up the focus.

“We’re down 3-0. We’re all lacking sleep. This is tough,” head coach Alain Vigneault said, via ESPN.com. “I didn’t expect my players today to be cheery and upbeat. We’re in the Stanley Cup finals and we’re down 3-0. You don’t get a lot of these opportunities.

“Excuse us if today we’re not real cheery, but tomorrow I can tell you we’re going to show up.”

We will see whether or not Vigneault’s comments prove to be true in a matter of a few hours.
