NBA Draft 2014: Boston Celtics working out Noah Vonleh, Isaiah Austin Wednesday

The Celtics clearly hoped to climb into the top three in the lottery, but will instead have to settle for the sixth-overall selection. The Celtics also own the 17th-overall pick from the Brooklyn Nets in the deal that sent big man Kevin Garnett, swingman Paul Pierce and guard Jason Terry to the Nets.
The Celtics would love to deal their picks for a star like Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love, but that may not be all that likely.
According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com, the Celtics will be working out former Indiana Hoosiers’ big man Noah Vonleh, former Baylor Bears’ center Isaiah Austin, former Gonzaga Bulldogs’ big man Sam Dower, former Buffalo Bulls’ forward Javon McCrea, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ center Daniel Miller and Russian center Artem Klimenko.

Vonleh, who measured in at 6’9.5 and 247 pounds with an impressive wingspan of 7’4.5, averaged 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 52.3% from the field, 48.5% from beyond the arc and 71.6% from the free throw line. Jonathan Givony of Draft Express ranks Vonleh as the seventh-best prospect in the draft and currently projects the Jazz to take him with the fifth-overall pick.
Austin put up 11.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 1.4 assists per game last season and is ranked as the the 35th-best prospect in the draft. He shot 48.1% from the field, 28.1% from three and 68.3% from the charity stripe. At the NBA’s Scouting Combine, he measured in at 7’0.5 and 220 lbs. with a wingspan of 7’4.5. Austin is considered the 35th-best prospect in the draft and is projected to be selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 36th-overall pick of the second round
