The NBA Draft is just around the corner and Nik Stauskas’ name is one that we are starting to hear passed around more and more. The former Michigan Wolverines star is projected to be a lottery pick in this year’s draft and the more we hear his name the more is sounds like his stock is rising. Once thought to be a guy for the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 13 overall, Stauskas now could rise as high as No. 7 overall to the Los Angeles Lakers.

More from Charlotte Hornets

One team that hopes the Lakers pass are the Charlotte Hornets, who pick No. 9 in the draft this year and could use a scoring threat like the one Stauskas provides.

Hornets working out Michigan’s Nik Stauskas today,” according to Rick Bonell of the Charlotte Observer. “Viable pick at No. 9. He shot 44 percent from college 3-point line last season.”

Stuauskas is indeed a viable pick at No. 9 for the Hornets as he fills a need they have for a scoring help and could add an explosive dynamic to the team. Pairing Stauskas with Kemba Walker seems like a formula that could work as Walker has been in desperate need of a Robin to his Batman and that’s something Stauskas could provide.

We’ve seen point guards rise and fall based on who they’re paired with and the duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal is all the proof anyone needs that a solid point guard needs a solid shooting guard partner to truly make them both elite.
