Last night Oakland Athletics left-fielder Yoenis Cespedes had the throw of the year, possibly throw of the last five years. From 300 feet away he threw a high arcing bomb to throw out the runner before they reached home.

More from MLB

Of course, because the internet is the internet they had to add graphics, turning the ball he threw into a flaming ball of fire and sparks. Fitting considering his throw not only made the distance but had the speed behind it to make it all the way to home.

Cespedes is reportedly a fan of the Vine. Susan Slusser of  the San Franciso Chronicle had a series of tweets describing how much Cespedes loved the Vine. Cespedes said that was his best throw in the U.S. but he had even better throws in Cuba. If that is true and Cespedes had better throws in Cuba, we need to get a hold of those videos as well. Then those videos could get the internet treatment being transformed into Vines, but let’s add even more graphics. I’m thinking maybe an explosion on the catch or tag, your choice internet.

It’s cool that Cespedes got a hold of the video and it’s even cooler that he was a fan of it. If Cespedes keeps making more highlight plays there could be a chance that a few of them get turned into Vines as well.

A lot of players tend to ignore what happens on the internet because of all the negative things that can come with social media. In doing so they miss the sometimes beautiful things the internet can churn out like this Vine.
