Normally you read that and expect to see a high, majestic home run into the depths of Marlins park, beyond the gaudy art in the outfield. But that is not the case. Nope , this home run is a screaming line drive that never looks like it is higher than 20 feet off the ground.
But it just…kept…going. I guarantee you will do a double-take when you see this home run.
The Marlins broadcast then noted that this ball was 107 MPH off Stanton’s bat. That cannot possibly be true: it had to be faster than that.
Jason Hammel wanted to work the outside part of the strike zone, the very outside of the strike zone, against Stanton. That is completely understandable. With that approach in mind, Hammel floated an off-speed pitch off the plate.
At that point Stanton showed his ability to hit the ball to all fields with this incredible shot. That it was a curveball only further emphasizes how strong that man is; Stanton generated almost all of that power himself, or at least not without the aid of the plus velocity that might have been behind a fastball.
Stanton is a fixure in the highlight reels, but this ridiculous home run truly stands out from the rest.
