Fantasy Baseball: Jake Arrieta headlines Week 13 streaming options

Last week in my post for Week 12 streaming options, I touched on four starters that would be great plug-and-plays. If you started Kevin Gausman or John Danks you were probably pretty happy as they both recorded wins and solid starts. Gausman is featured in this column a second consecutive week, but use caution as he hasn’t been guaranteed a spot in the Orioles’ rotation just yet.

Let’s take a look at four more great options, plus a bonus. In deeper leagues these guys are likely owned, but consider these streamers for standard leagues with Week 13 around the corner.

Jake Arrieta (33% owned, Yahoo!)
Next start: June 24th vs Cincinnati
Notes: Arrieta is having an incredible, unexpected season for the Cubs with a 1.98 ERA and a career-high 9.9 K/9. He’s allowed just one run in his last three starts and blew hitters away (12.1 K/9). Regression may come, but hop aboard while you can.

Kyle Gibson (9% owned)
Next start: June 25th @ Los Angeles Angels
Notes: Gibson has been a top 10 starting pitcher in Yahoo! leagues the past couple weeks. In his last three starts he’s practically been un-hittable, allowing just nine hits in 21 innings and no runs allowed. Get on board while he’s hot and severely under-owned.

Charlie Morton (23% owned)
Next start: June 25th @ Tampa Bay
Notes: The Rays have really struggled of late, and they’re next to last in runs scored this month. In Morton’s last five starts he hasn’t given up more than two earned runs, and despite a losing record he’s having a career year with a 3.09 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. As a bonus, if you hold onto him, you’ll get another start versus the lowly Mets at home.

Brandon Workman (6% owned)
Next start: TBD (@ Oakland or @ Seattle)
Notes: As of Wednesday the 18th, Workman began serving his six-game suspension and doesn’t have a start scheduled for next week, but will likely take the hill on the road in Oakland or Seattle, both spacious ballparks. He doesn’t go deep into ballgames, but he’s given up five runs in three starts this month with a 0.85 WHIP. That’ll play.

Kevin Gausman (17% owned)
Next start: TBD (June 24th vs Chicago White Sox?)
Notes: The lefty Oriole finds the stream a second consecutive week. Gausman threw six innings of shutout ball in his last start, getting the win against the struggling Rays. The White Sox aren’t particularly good against lefties, and Gausman could get them next. Since he hasn’t been guaranteed a spot in the rotation, exercise caution if your league puts a cap on moves/transactions.
