While the Kevin Love trade winds continue to blow west and the LeBron James opt-out rumors are starting to heat up, people are forgetting about Carmelo Anthony and his fight to free himself from his contract with the Knicks. With all the talk about Golden State, Love, Houston and LeBron, the Chicago Bulls are looking at Carmelo Anthony with widening eyes and their pursuit of him is intensifying.

More from NBA

According to Adam Zagoria from SNY.tv, the Chicago Bulls are the clear-cut leaders to sign Carmelo Anthony or land him in a sign-and-trade deal with the Knicks.

"The Chicago Bulls are the most likely landing spot for Carmelo Anthony, a league source told SNY.TV and The Knicks Blog.Assuming he follows through with his plan to opt-out by Monday’s deadline, Anthony could either sign with the Bulls for less money than he is due to make with the Knicks ($129 million over five years) or be moved to Chicago in a sign-and-trade deal."

The two leading teams to land Melo have always been the Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls with the Miami Heat being mentioned for the trolls. But it appears that the Rockets are still the same brand of crazy they’ve always been and are going to go all-in on signing LeBron James, leaving the Bulls as even more of a frontrunner to sign Melo.

All of this is contingent on Melo opting out of his current contract — something he hasn’t yet done. But the Bulls are looking more and more like the landing spot Melo will end up in and that’s something Bulls fans have been waiting a long time to hear.
