It has been all downhill since Derrick Rose was named the 2011 NBA MVP and the Bulls were in the Eastern Conference Finals.

More from Chicago Bulls

Rose played in just 39 games in a lockout shortened season a year later and then tore his ACL in game 1 of the Bulls’ first round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, a series they ultimately lost. That cost him the entire 2012-2013 season. The Bulls went on to defeat the Brooklyn Nets in seven games before bowing out to the Miami Heat. Last year, Rose played in just 10 games before reinjuring his knee. The Bulls went on to lose to the Washington Wizards in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

Now, the Bulls and Rose are hoping their luck changes.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, Rose “looks like the old Derrick Rose.”

"The Bulls are emboldened by their options and flexibility heading into the draft and free agency, and the No. 1 reason just happens to be their most important piece of the puzzle: Derrick Rose. Rose is playing 5-on-5 on a daily basis, and, according to one witness, “looks like the old Derrick Rose.” So much of the Bulls’ future is tied to the former MVP regaining his form and health, but the team’s focus now is getting him some help."

Rose averaged 15.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game while shooting 35.4% from the field, 34.0% from beyond the arc and 84.4% from the free throw line this season. In his career, he has averaged 20.8 points, 6.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.0% from the field, 31.2% from three and 81.5% from the charity stripe.
