That doesn’t quite do this catch by Chris Denorfia justice though. In Friday night’ s game, Los Angeles Dodger catcher A.J. Ellis hit a sharp line drive into the right field corner and that’s where Chris Denorfia did his best Superman impression.
Denorfia’s catch took away a run from the Dodgers. Justin Turner doubled to lead off the second inning, and certainly would have scored on this play. Instead Turner was stranded on third base, and the Dodger lead was kept at 2-0
The Dodgers scored two in the first when Dee Gordon tripled to lead off the game and scored on an errant throw home. Matt Kemp brought in Adrian Gonzalez with a two out single.
It also could have been worse for the Padres in the first. Hanley Ramirez was thrown out trying to steal second before AGon’s double.

Thanks to his defense, Padre starter Ian Kennedy has gone four innings, but only given up two runs despite allowing seven baserunners. Dan Haren is pitching well on the other side for the Dodgers. He has given up only one hit through four, but has walked a pair of batters.
The Padres got their run in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Seth Smith.
