By Jack Crosby
Throughout the course of the 2014 college baseball season, the Virginia Cavaliers have been considered one of the best teams in the nation, and with their 4-1 win over the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, they’ll get to prove that as they are now off to the championship series of the College World Series.

Virginia has yet to lose a game since they arrived in Omaha for this year’s event, and Saturday was no different against a gritty Ole Miss team.
However, things didn’t exactly start out so easily in this one for the preseason number one-ranked team in the country.
Ole Miss got on the board first in the second inning when Will Allen scored an unearned run when J.B Woodman was caught stealing, giving the Rebels the 1-0 early advantage.
But, in the fourth inning, the Cavaliers took control and never looked back from there, scoring three runs in the inning. They would add one more in the seventh inning for a little insurance.
If there were any doubts prior to the College World Series as to whether or not this Virginia team is for real, they are now gone. This group of Cavaliers, much like the regular season, has been one of the more consistent forces on the diamond, on both the offensive and defensive sides.
Now, the Cavaliers are off to the best-of-three series that begins this Monday where they will face either the Vanderbilt Commodores or Texas Longhorns who will battle it out later Saturday evening.
