It seems clear that the Orlando Magic are going to draft a point guard in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft.

However, the injury to former Kansas Jayhawks’ center Joel Embiid may have thrown a wrench into their plans. It looked like Australian point guard Dante Exum could be available and that Embiid, his college teammate, forward Andrew Wiggins and former Duke Blue Devils’ forward Jabari Parker would be the the top three pick. Now that Embiid could fall out of the top five or even the top 10, Exum is expected to go in the top three.

The Magic could select former Oklahoma State Cowboys’ point guard Marcus Smart with the fourth-overall pick or potentially go with a big man at four – they are said to be very high on former Indiana Hoosiers’ big man Noah Vonleh.

Then, with their 12th-overall pick they could possibly go with a point guard – maybe former Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns’ point guard Elfrid Payton or former Syracuse Orange star Tyler Ennis.

According to Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel via Paul Coro of AZCentral Sports, Ennis will have a second workout with the Magic.

Ennis put up 12.9 points, 5.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from the field, 35.3% from beyond the arc and 76.5% from the charity stripe. He measured in at 6’2.5 and 182 lbs. with a wingspan of 6’7.25. He is ranked by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express as the 12th-best prospect in the draft.
