NBA Draft Rumors: Dante Exum won’t fall past No. 3

Australian point guard Dante Exum may be the most intriguing player in the 2014 NBA Draft.

More from NBA

He went from a relative unknown who was at one time cut by an under-16 team in Melbourne, Australia to one of the elite prospects in the draft. He has recently been held in high-esteem and talked about with the likes of former Kansas Jayhawks’ center Joel Embiid, his college teammate, Andrew Wiggins, and former Duke Blue Devils’ forward Jabari Parker.

Now that Embiid has had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot, Exum could move into the top three. Although some view Exum as a bit of a risk because they are not sure if he will ultimately be a point guard or a shooting guard, Chad Ford of does not believe Exum will fall past the Philadelphia 76ers with the third-overall pick.

Ford also believes Exum may be the smartest player available.

Exum measured in at 6’6 and 196 lbs. with a wingspan of 6’9.5 at the NBA’s Scouting Combine. Exum is ranked by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express as the fifth-best prospect in the draft.
