New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony has opted out of his contract and will hit the free agent market. There are two pools of thoughts, that he is using free agency to leverage a new deal from the Knicks, or that he is actually considering leaving and going to another team.

More from Chicago Bulls

Of course players around the league are hoping that Anthony is considering joining another team, preferably theirs. That includes Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah, who has been calling Anthony over the past week.

We saw Chandler Parsons’ persistent calls to Dwight Howard help sway him to join the Houston Rockets last year, but Anthony hasn’t been returning the calls according to a report from the New York Daily News. The Bulls could try and use former MVP point guard Derrick Rose as an ambassador and get him to call Anthony, but that same report suggests that Rose hasn’t called Anthony and won’t.

"Noah will be disappointed if it turns out that Anthony uses the Bulls merely to get Dolan to up the Knicks’ offer. But one of his teammates won’t be crushed. Derrick Rose hasn’t called Anthony once and isn’t expected to do any recruiting when the Bulls make their run at the Knicks’ top scorer in free agency."

Why wouldn’t Rose want to help convince Anthony to join the Bulls, imagine the situation your team is in if you can pass up on a player like Anthony. The report from Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News, goes on to say that Rose prefers Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love to Anthony.

Rose reportedly views Love as more of a team player than Anthony.
