The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to make a splash this offseason that will help the team get back on track sooner than expected. One way to do that is to make a big trade that helps get the team a second superstar that they desperately lack int eh worst of ways.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Aside from Kobe Bryant, who checked out way early last season both physically and mentally, the Lakers lack an identity and they have no future. That’s leading them to look at what young players in the league they may be able to acquire in a trade to give them the boost and the future they need.

According to Sean Deveney of The Sporting News, the Lakers may have had discussions about trading for Michael Carter-Williams but they aren’t at all serious about the proposal.

The Lakers may very well be interested in acquiring the NBA Rookie of the Year but they don’t seem to keen on the proposal we’ve been hearing about. Deveney notes that the scenario hasn’t been seriously considered but that doesn’t mean it’s a deal that can’t be revisited in the coming days as we near the draft.

What the Lakers don’t want to do is give away the No. 7 pick in the wrong trade, as there is still the belief that they can land Kevin Love in trade — something they’d need their draft pick for. But Carter-Williams is a pretty great asset to have, so the Lakers not wanting to make the trade means it’s not something on their end holding things up.
