The NHL will open up free agency not long after we see the draft conclude over the weekend and we will no doubt be seeing some trading going on before then where big names and expiring contracts are on the move to new teams.

One name we could see on the move during the draft are San Jose Sharks veterans Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton. We’ve been hearing rumors about the duo possibly being moved, with a recent rumor connecting Marleau to the Boston Bruins, but if you ask the man himself then you’ll see a very different picture painted.
Marleau: "I want to play in San Jose. I want to win there." He said he and Thornton expect to return at this point.

Marleau and Thornton have been great for the Sharks but they haven’t been able to propel the team to a Stanley Cup during there tenure there. That’s a major sticking point for management and it’s the reason they’re being mentioned in so many trade rumors.
San Jose has been adamant about trying to shake up their roster and trading two of their best and most well known players is one way to do that. The question is whether or not trading their stars is the best option for the Sharks, as they may be able to get back adequate assets but they may want to try the duo out for at least one more year.
At least, that’s what Marleau seems to be in favor of.
