NBA Rumors: Did the Milwaukee Bucks give Jabari Parker a draft promise?
If the Cleveland Cavaliers decide not to draft Jabari Parker with the number one overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft, the small forward won’t have to wait long of this name to be called as Jake Pavorsky says the Milwaukee Bucks may have given Parker a promise to take him second overall.
Even with Joel Embiid completely healthy, the Bucks have always had their eyes set on taking Jabari Parker with the number two pick. And based on recent reports, the interest between Milwaukee and Parker is mutual. According to ESPN’s Chad Ford and an anonymous source, Parker tanked his latest joint workout with the Cleveland Cavaliers, hoping the franchise would opt to select Andrew Wiggins first overall, leaving him available for Milwaukee at two.

Why is Parker so enthralled with the idea of playing in Milwaukee? It’s proximity to Chicago, Parker’s home town, may be a huge reason, but beyond that, finding reasons is a tough task. Based on their current rosters, the Cavaliers have a higher ceiling. For starters, they’ve Kyrie Irving, a budding star at point guard, and the insertion of Parker into the starting lineup would give Cleveland a scary one-two scoring punch. In Milwaukee, Parker will be tasked with carrying the bulk of the offense unless O.J. Mayo is able to consistently keep up his play throughout the season.
Whatever his reasons may be, Parker’s want to be in Milwaukee could be deterred by Cavaliers. It’d be unfortunate for him, but excellent television for the world to view.
The 2014 NBA draft takes place on July 26th.
