This year’s class is considered to be one of the deepest classes in the event’s history, and when you take a look up and down the list of names, you can definitely see why that is.
Because of the deep talent in the group, this also brings upon a lot of uncertainty as teams up front are more willing to oblige a trade request from someone behind them, knowing that even if they move down they could still get a solid player on their board.
Such is even the case for the team that holds this year’s no. 1 overall pick, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Reportedly, the Cavs were very much interested in selecting Kansas’ Joel Embiid with the top pick, however, following his recent foot injury and subsequent surgery, they are torn at the moment.
So, as is the case in these situations, they have been fielding trade calls all week from a plethora of teams looking to get in their spot and grab one of the players –presumably Andrew Wiggins or Joel Embiid– that they don’t desire as much.
Moving down, the Cavaliers would have a ton of other talent to select from since that can’t have the man they’ve wanted all along.
With that, let’s have a look at just how deep Thursday night’s class is as we delve into our final Top 50 Big Board of the year.
