The NBA Draft may be over and done with but hte work for most teams this offseason is just getting started. Free agency is set to open up next week as July 1st will mark the first day that teams will be able to pitch offers and sign deals with players on the open market.

More from Chicago Bulls

Perhaps the biggest free agent name of them all, outside of LeBron James who shouldn’t even count, is Carmelo Anthony. The New York Knicks are hoping to bring him back next season but they’re going to have competition from the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and most notably the Chicago Bulls.

While we may wait on a LeBron James decision for some time, Yahoo! Sports inside Marc J. Spears reports the decision from Carmelo Anthony on where he wants to take his career moving forward will be made during the second week of July.

"New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony hopes to make a decision on where he will play next season in the second week of July after taking several free-agent visits, a source told Yahoo Sports."

This doesn’t really come as much of a surprise but it means that teams hoping to pitch Carmelo Anthony will have to do so in a quick manner and in a convincing manner. Teams cannot begin meeting with Melo until July 1st which means we are looking at a two week window for a handful of teams to try and get as much face time with the All-Star as possible as Melo is no doubt putting teams through the ringer to find the best possible place to continue his NBA career.
